Ethan

Update July 23, 2001

A lot has happened with Ethan since our last update.  First of all, Ethan's Great Grandma Zabler (Jenny's grandma) passed away last week.  She was 90 years old and had a chance to see Ethan before passing.  She will be missed.  We all went up to Neillsville for the memorial service this past weekend so everybody got to see our big boy.

In the last two weeks, Ethan has started sleeping longer through the night, which is a delight for Jenny since she still gets up with him most of the time.  He has also discovered his hands and arms, and is starting to explore his feet.  When we stand Ethan up, he likes to raise and lower his right foot constantly.  I call it "The Kermit Dance" and he likes it when I sing "Rainbow Connection" while he is doing it.

This morning, we took Ethan to the doctor for his two month checkup and for his first round of shots.  He was in a very good mood in the doctor's office and even managed to smile and laugh at both the nurses and his doctor.  We found out that he has grown to 23 inches long and weighs 13 pounds 9 ounces.  Both of those measurements put him in the 90th percentile (yes, I'm bragging) so he is growing perfectly.  More importantly the doctor even checked out his privates and said that everything looked perfect down there.  I'm sure someday he'll be happy to hear that.  Not to brag more, but I will...  When she sat Ethan up this morning, she said that his neck and back muscles have developed to that of a normal 4 month old...  That's my boy!!!  OK, I'm done bragging now for this update.

After all of the fun and games of playing with the doctor, the mean nurses came in and gave him two shots, one in each leg.  That pissed Ethan off plenty, and he screamed for a couple of minutes.  However, much like for the circumcision, he came through in a couple of minutes and calmed down, then slept.

I don't have any pictures this week, but I'll make up for it in two weeks after our vacation up north with Grandma and Grandpa Grady.  Until next time...
